Samsung Galaxy Fold | By the end of 2021, Samsung may release a smartphone with a double-folding screen

Is this Samsung’s next big release, following the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Flip smartphones?

Samsung is rumored to be working on a new type of smartphone with a double-folding screen that will be released by the end of the year. This would enable the South Korean company to expand its folding phone lineup, which currently includes the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Flip. If you want OnePlus Nord N10 specifications so click here.

Several models of smartphones with foldable screens have been released in recent years. Samsung has been at the forefront of this new trend, launching no fewer than three models in the last two years: the Galaxy Z Fold, Fold 2, and Flip. These models, however, are still very expensive, and their sales volumes have not yet been made public.

When it comes to folding smartphones, however, Samsung isn’t done innovating. A future model with two hinges, that is, with a screen folded in three, maybe on the way soon. In any case, patents have been filed, and a new model is rumored to be in the works.

The benefit of such a smartphone would be to have a screen that is even bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold’s, approaching that of a tablet, with a 16:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio, while still being portable in one’s pocket. It would clearly be ideal for multitasking and would be more suitable for playing video games or watching a movie on the go.

The economic news site Nikkei Asia reported on these rumors. Because Samsung isn’t expected to release a successor to the Galaxy Note 20 this year, it’s possible that the company will unveil this new device this summer. By that time, new generations of the Galaxy Z Fold (the third) and the Flip (the second) should have been unveiled, bringing the total number of folding models in the company’s lineup to three. However, it’s difficult to believe they’ll sell as well as the Galaxy Note series, which sells over 10 million units annually.

According to some estimates, Samsung will have sold 3.5 million folding smartphones in 2020, out of a total of more than 250 million devices sold globally.

However, the danger of an unprecedented global component shortage, an unanticipated result of the covid-19 pandemic, may dampen this year’s high expectations.
